Here at The M Word cic Lavinia wanted to provide this service for some time and it is only now 5yrs in having established our services that we have been able to expand to provide this service. We know there are many young people who have been missed, dismissed, or ignored as having needs throughout their school career. The young person has been labelled as having challenging, naughty, or lazy behaviour and soon resort to behaving as labelled, or absconding, or using drugs or alcohol in a determined effort to find a way of dealing with their anxiety and or anger (trauma). They will also resort to finding their tribe or become completely isolated and alone.
With limited or no qualifications and no way of acquiring a career then means finding ways to survive financially to pay for an endless supply of self prescribed medication. Some even become homeless. Hearing their stories can be harrowing, but leaving them to a lifetime of poor mental health and misery is in no way acceptable. Families want support for their children, no matter what they have done, from a place of love and compassion. They just need to make the right connection with mental health nurse specialists who can support them and their young person to change the trajectory. Everything is entirely possible, and TMW cic not only provide that hope, but also beacon of light in providing the right type of support.
